Description

The MUSC Children’s Hospital and Women’s Pavilion is a ten story 650,000 square feet hospital facility located in Charleston, SC. Clinical programs in the facility include pediatric trauma emergency facilities, neonatal ICU, pediatric cardiac ICU, hematology/ oncology, labor/delivery rooms, operating rooms, c-section ORs, imaging, cath lab, pathology lab, pharmacy, pre-op and post-op care units, electro-physiology lab, and support spaces. The project also includes the addition of 2,400 tons of cooling capacity to the central plant.

Mechanical systems include large chilled water central station air handling units serving a VAV distribution system with DDC controls, constant volume precision air valves for pressure control in isolation rooms and operating rooms, stairwell pressurization systems, smoke control systems, energy recovery, and a steam and chilled water central plant.

KLG Jones is providing full commissioning services in an integrated team format for the mechanical, electrical, lighting, emergency power and fi re alarm systems. Both LEED Fundamental and Enhanced commissioning services are being provided to help achieve a LEED Silver rating. All of the drawings were reviewed at critical times during the design phase of the project. Commissioning specifications and a commissioning plan were prepared. Construction site visits were regularly performed along with meeting attendance. KLG Jones was integral to the opening of the facility providing contractor quality inspections at the end of the project.
