The new Mobile Federal Courthouse will meet the long-term needs of the U.S. District Courts in Southern Alabama and will consolidate court operations out of leased space into a new secure, high-performance, federally owned campus.

The new 155,600 square-foot courthouse will have six (6) courtrooms and nine (9) chambers housing the U.S. District Court, U.S. Magistrate Court, U.S. District Clerk of Court and U.S. Marshals Service.

The Repair & Alteration of the Historic John Campbell Courthouse will improve security and accessibility, upgrade to GSA Design Excellence standards for energy-efficiency, enhance life safety features and abate hazardous materials while improving tenant and public interior spaces. The modernized Campbell Courthouse will house the U.S. Court of Appeals, U.S. District Court, U.S. District Clerk of Court, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, U.S. Bankruptcy Clerk of Court, U.S. Bankruptcy Administrator, U.S. Probation, Federal Public Defender’s Office, U.S. Marshals Service, Congressional Office, and GSA.

KLG Jones is providing full commissioning services for the building heating, ventilating and air conditioning services, lighting and power distribution systems, fire alarm systems and the building envelope. KLG Jones has been a team member since conceptual design phase and will continue through tenant occupancy phase. We have performed multiple design reviews, participated in VE and Peer Review meetings, conducted a commissioning kick-off meeting, witnessed system start-ups and onsite system testing and performed various site inspections during construction.

The new federal courthouse has a LEED target of Gold certification. The projects will incorporate Energy Star rated equipment, high efficiency lighting, water conservation plumbing, and low-emitting materials in both facilities.
