Description

The health care facility is a new two-story, 53,200 GSF building for the Bon Secours Mercy Health System. The new building contains a 24/7 emergency department, retail pharmacy, imaging, radiology, ultrasound, as well as clinical office space that will house services that include OB/GYN, phlebotomy, orthopedics, primary care, cardiology, and behavioral health.

Mechanical systems for the patient treatment areas included rooftop air conditioning units serving variable air volume terminal units with electric reheat. Electric steam generating humidifiers maintain the space relative humidity while exhaust fans maintain the space pressure in critical spaces. The IT closets are served by mini split air conditioning units. A full DDC system with BAS graphical user interface by Johnson Controls monitors, trends, and facilitates remote trouble diagnosis, user adjustability and control all of the mechanical systems.

KLG Jones provided full commissioning services for the mechanical, electrical, lighting, emergency power, and fire alarm systems. All of the drawings were reviewed at critical times during the design phase of the project. Commissioning specifications and a commissioning plan were prepared. All of the MEP submittals were reviewed in parallel with the A/E team. Periodic site visits were made to inspect the construction and hold commissioning meetings. Functional performance tests were prepared and the functional testing was conducted in conjunction with the contractors. All of the test and balance work was validated through random sampling techniques.
