This project provides a state-ofthe-art facility which can accommodate a serving requirement of up to 6,000 patrons in support of the Second, Third and Support Recruit Training Battalions at Parris Island, SC. The facility includes all dining, food preparation, receiving and storage areas, as well as general spaces for both recruits and permanent party personnel. The project is LEED registered.
Four separate eateries are provided as well as an additional dining area for private dining for drill instructors and permanent party patrons. Heating and cooling are provided from a new central plant.
KLG Jones provided full commissioning services for all of the mechanical and electrical systems in the building. The scope of work included drawing reviews, shop drawing re-views, inspections, functional performance testing, emergency power testing, Owner’s training and documentation.
Systems commissioned included a central plant with high efficiency chillers and steam boilers, air handling units, VAV boxes, kitchen exhaust and supply systems, domestic hot water systems, emergency power, lighting and lighting controls, and heating hot water. The commissioning fully satisfied the requirements for LEED EA prerequisite 1.
