The new Belk Learning Center project consisted of 13,110 GSF of new construction and 1,710 GSF of renovated space for a total of 14,820 GSF. The facility is located in North Charlotte.
The project included indoor and outdoor learning spaces, a recording studio, library, media center, and the Mattei commons area. Mechanical and administrative support areas were also provided.
The mechanical systems included variable air volume terminal units with hot water reheat serving the classroom and administration areas. Variable volume air handling units with hot water preheat coils and chilled water cooling coils located in mechanical rooms, provide conditioned air to the terminal units.
Large multi-use spaces are served by constant volume single zone air handling units and roof top units. An air-cooled chiller and gas fired boilers provide the chilled water and heating hot water respectively.
KLG Jones provided CODE MINIMUM commissioning services for the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Systems in the building in accordance with 2018 North Carolina Energy Conservation Code section C408.
The CODE MINIMUM commissioning services included preparation of commissioning specifications and the commissioning plan, preparation of prefunctional checklists and the functional test scripts, functional testing of the systems being commissioned, maintaining a Cx Issues Log, and final project report.
KLG Jones also provided Duke Energy Rebate Analysis for the Client on this project as well.
